Special Geometries

Catacel can engineer and manufacture catalytic heat-exchanging materials in a wide range of geometries, forms, and capabilities — each custom developed for specific customer needs. The following are some examples. Contact us to learn more.

Shapes – Coated foils can be supplied in virtually any shape.

• Cylinders and annular constructs are common.
• Rectangles and cubic or planar forms have been used in many applications.
• Less common but still possible are rhombic, trapezoidal, or tapered forms.
• Pie and disc shapes available.
• Geometric combinations of all shapes are also possible.

Corrugations and fins – Flat foils to complex forms.

• Straight, herringbone, and skew corrugations from 20 to 2000 cpsi
• Triangular or rectangular formed fins, with straight or complex profiles in the flow direction.
• Fins from 5 to 50 fins per inch, at heights 0.01 to 1”.
• Interrupted, serrated, or punched forms that promote mixing or heat transfer.

Graded constructions – Catacel can produce structures that contain several distinct gradations. Certain applications require that the foil geometry within a construct vary along the flow length. Some catalytic combustors use such a feature to manage heat transfer or reaction rate. Such phase changes can be accomplished in graded structures.

Selective coatings – Coatings can be strategically placed in bands, ribbons, or spots within a structure to control reaction rate of flashback characteristics.
